Savoury Cheese Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F).Gas mark 4 Grease and line a 1lb Loaf tin
  2. Sift the flours and baking powder into a bowl
  3. Add the mustard and 2/3 of the cheese, onion and bacon
  4. In a small bowl beat the egg and add the milk
  5. Add the milk and egg to the dry ingredients, mix well and turn into the loaf tin
  6. Add the remaining cheese, onion and bacon to the top
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes
  8. Turn out onto a cooling rack. Slice when cold
  • 110g (4oz) Neill's Golden Fleece
  • 110g (4oz) Neill's Fine wholemeal Flour
  • 1 tsp dried mustard
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 110g (4oz) Grated cheddar cheese
  • 110g (4oz) Grilled Bacon finely chopped
  • 1 medium egg
  • 2 finely chopped spring onions
  • 142ml (1/4 pint) Milk
